BJJ Sweeps w/Ron Hicks (Centreville BJJ) 12.10.18

Sweeps:

We’ll begin class with a couple of warm up drills so Ron can see the skill level of the class and we will move to sweeps until 9:15. Additional drill until 9:30. Then rolling and summary.

About Ron Hicks:

Coach Ron Hicks was awarded the rank of Brown Belt in October of 2014 and has been a student and competitor of BJJ since 2004. Leading up to his full time commitment to BJJ, Coach Hicks was a successful amateur boxer and fought on local circuits accumulating a record of 8-2.

He started attending BJJ class in his spare time in 2003 with several Lloyd Irvin affiliate gyms in Arlington, VA and Maryland and became a full time BJJ practitioner in 2006 and affiliated with Fight Works (Relson Gracie) in Herndon, VA.

Under the direction of Dan Wallen, Tony Waldecker and Dave Patton, Coach Hicks was promoted through the ranks to Purple Belt in 2011. In 2012, Fight Works closed and Coach Hicks trained and coached at Disciple MMA with Tiago Giussani (Ricardo Reis/Tanque) and David Reeves (Leo Dalla/Big Brothers). Coach Reeves took over the Disciple MMA program full time in 2014 and Ron became a permanent member of the Big Brothers family.

Currently, he is one of the instructors at Centreville BJJ (A Big Brothers Affiliate) with Double Black Belt (Judo/BJJ) Scott Salb. Over the last several years, he has become one of the most well-known BJJ students in the region.

He holds multiple medals from local, regional and international competition and takes pride in visiting neighboring gyms and sparring with some of the fiercest BJJ practitioners in the region.

You’ll find Coach Hicks training daily at Centreville BJJ, Disciple MMA and Leo Dalla Martial Arts (Premier Fight Center).
